'Church of the Devoted Wurm 1'
This is a little comic that, god willing, I will continue at some point. Original draft was just fountain pen, then I digitized it later. 'Singing Stones of Flavus 9'

Their planet is composed almost entirely of warped, dark stone, endlessly buffeted by a vortex of screaming wind and polished to a glass-like finish. Modern flavians are mostly oblong in shape, measuring 7-8 feet tall and about 1-2 in diameter. Their stony exteriors appear carved with undulating curves and ridges, some jagged, some smooth. With gentle adjustments they can fly, swoop, and hover upon the terrible gales. They will communicate in this same way, channeling the wind around and through them to create a huge variety of sounds. A single eye protrudes from the upper portion of the creature, the only piece of the organism that extends past its shell on a dense, extremely durable stalk.

Over their very, very long lifespan a flavian may only have one or two offspring. They reproduce asexually, the parent severing a piece of itself and enclosing it within a womb of stone. It will carry the child for several Earth years before it is fully grown. Flavians are named after the sound made when they’re expelled from their parent’s birth canal onto a suitable piece of terrain. Written phonetically, it would read as a tediously long bout of onomatopoeia imitating the grinding of stone-on-stone, wind rushing, followed by several lines of cracking noises from when they hit the ground.

They are intelligent creatures, and any individual capable of surviving in the hellish atmosphere will be met with an ironically warm reception.

Submission for the Creature Design Workshop Discord monthly challenge. Pen/Digital 'Flavian Ministrip'
A small companion piece to the April creature design submission featuring the Driver as a special guest. Pen/Digital. 'Red Lights Over the Factory Planet'

May submission for the monthly challenge on the Creature Design Workshop Discord server. Here's the write-up:

“Watch out for shooting stars, they’ve got teeth.”
- Linesman, Sect. 1306
The ugly heart of industry, this planet is a crawling expanse of massive factories, power plants, macro-scale farming facilities, and much, much more. Thick smog blankets the sky in a perpetual state of twilight. Only the faintest traces of sunlight reach the surface so the unfortunates working the endless mazes of machinery and steel must rely on poorly-maintained electric lighting to see by. Sadly, there are other forms of illumination.

The workers have many names for them–‘Cutterfish’, ‘the Snacka’, ‘Red Rockets’, to name a few. They can be spotted, if you’re lucky, by the glowing red lights of their five stomachs which are bright enough to shine through both their skin and the smoke at once. These organs process the flammable gasses produced by the factories after they are sucked through natural vents on their fins and trunk where they are converted to a powerful fuel. This fuel ignites almost immediately and is directed out six hollow, fin-like appendages, producing significant thrust. Through the flexing of powerful muscles they can adjust the output, allowing them to hover, coast, or speed forward with incredible velocity.

Carnivores, their diet mostly consists of the animals they can steal from the factory farm sectors and the many workers who have no choice but to brave the exteriors of their metal fortresses. Massive jaws with appropriately razor-like teeth, large jagged blades jutting from the bottoms and tops, and a dextrous tail tipped with what is essentially a harpoon. Coupled with the creatures’ speed and ferocity, just glimpsing the red lights overhead could mean imminent death. 'Disarmed'
A little one-panel comic from the Delivery 'series', experimenting with different color/lineart styles. 'Korlycz 1'
Another one-panel, this one more in line with the Layover graphic novel I've been working on for a few years. Hadn't been happy with the color styles for a while, but this recent stuff has been feeling better to me. 'Resort 1'
Working on redesigning the resort that the first section of the comic takes place in. Trying to make it look more upscale. The whole thing is gonna be updated, which will take some time but is worth it to put out my best work. Ideally through this process I'll also become more and more adept at creating in this style and keeping it consistent. Honestly, I've been feeling pretty energized after stalling on it for a while.

'Goji, Trickster Frog Spirit'

Of the many spirits made manifest by the rainforest peoples, Goji is among the most mercurial. Roaming the high treetops, the giant frog utters guttural croaks that can be heard from miles away. Golden life energy pools from its expanded vocal sac and is teased out by six small appendages around the sides.

These small drops drift on the wind until coming to a rest in the ground or a riverbed, whereupon they will give birth to a variety of fresh, delectable fruits. Be wary however, not all of them are meant for mortal mouths. Some spirits are not as benevolent as they appear. Digital. This was created for a monthly contest in the Creature Design Workshop Discord. 'Ark of Man'

An ancient hermit sees a vision of a future where the Earth is dying, but also a possible escape. He goes through a terrible ritual and takes on the weight of his entire tribe and their lifespans. A couple thousand years later he and others like him have added even more lives to their mass, and converge upon the site of an opening portal created by the scientists of an alternate Earth.

'Everything had gone smoothly, according to plan. Miraculously it seemed that travel between Earths had been achieved without a hitch.

But when the portal opened, what greeted us was a dying landscape of red stone and ruins. We stood shocked and paralyzed by the sight. So it was that no one closed the gate before the first of the creatures got in.

It seemed a massive worm, at it's head a skeletal figure twice the height of a man. It's torso a mass of flesh and skin stretched over a macabre cargo. It reared up, it's jaw unhinging to produce an all too human, ululating melody that entranced the onlookers. It was echoed by a host of other distant cries, as behind the beast were many more just like it approaching the portal. Each one's 'body' extending so far into the horizon that there seemed to be no end.

We could only watch in horror as the creature bent over the nearest researcher--she stood stock still, eyes wide but unable to move--and began swallowing her from the head down.

That haunting melody never faltered.'

Mixture of pen and digital media, submitted to monthly contest held in the Creature Design Workshop Discord. 'Layover Front Cover'
My not be the final version, but this is currently the working cover and title for my graphic novel, which is slated to release whenever I finally get my act together and finish it. Outline and first draft are complete, as of writing I'm working on finalizing lineart and dialogue, coloring as I go. Around 80 pages right now, but I expect that to change as I make more progress. I may post more work on the site soon. Digital.

'The Game'
Just a fun little comic about two minds at odds. Pen. 'Etchi Sumi'
This was a portrait of a character I've been working on periodically. I'll probably post more images of him once I get some proper scans done. Digital, experimenting with sumi-e style brushes I downloaded. 'Cyborg'
A cyborg with a crazy cannon for an arm, getting ready to blast some fools. Digital. 'Halo'
NOT the game, just so we're clear. Digital. 'Balloon 1'
Art for a short story/comic about an elderly German couple in the country. They must deal with an otherworldly force following a tragic loss. Pencil, with digital touch ups for clarity(I don't have a scanner). 'Straight Chillin''
What more can be said? Pen.

'Roar'
I used the biggest, fattest sharpie I could find for this. 'The Knot'
Kinda moody, but one of my favorites. Straight pen, with a red one for color, on yellow paper. 'The Knot 2'
This whole series was about external and internal pressure, and how it builds up and tightens around you. Pen, red one for color, on newsprint. 'A Red Thing'
Separate, but still technically part of the 'Knot' series. I was doing a whole thing with humanoid forms made of tons of overlapping contour lines. I may post the original image at some point, since this was edited for print. Pen, with digital alteration afterwards for the white on red effect. 'Basket 1'
Concept for a mortally wounded samurai from the Sengoku period, turned effectively feral by a head injury he suffered during battle(see: arrow). Pen for lineart and brush pens for color 'Barnacles'
Creepy dude covered in barnacles. I was trying some stuff with different tools. Bamboo ink brush. 'Sunman'
It's kind of self-explanatory. Bamboo ink brush.

'Balance 1'
There's a lot of copyright-free images in online libraries I love using. I pulled the images of the busts from one of those. Tried to add a vaporwave aesthetic as well. Digital. 'Balance 2'
I like this one, it's my account background on Bluesky.
